A good mood leads to good fortune

While waiting to cross the street to get to the post this morning, I noticed that the driver of the section passing car by a big yawn morning. Within seconds, I felt something pull on my lips and I began to yawn as well. Seeing me, a person who waits on the other side of the street opened too. While the contagiousness of a yawn is something that we all know, this morning, it struck me as very funny.

Crossing the street with a giant smile on my face again, I spent my colleagues yawner. "Hello," I said, giving the go-ahead man - the home generally accepted among men of few words. The sincerity of my hello generated a smile on the face of the man, who lingered, even after he passed me.

I wore my good mood in the post office where I cheerfully took my place at the end of the line. Sensing the need, I started a conversation with those who waited with me. After all, it's not every day that University of Michigan suffers the biggest upset of the century, and I was happy to share with my fellow Ohioans. It did not take long for the six people in front of me to ring in and engage together in a pleasant conversation. Moments later, after his turn at the counter, the first man flew into the world, smiling and holding the door for the woman next door who walked in.

What began with a yawn contagious quickly turned into a string just as contagious positive exchanges. It was as if every new person was the beginning of a chain reaction, from jokes and good will to those they encountered next. At this point, I realized that the feelings and thoughts, like yawns are contagious.

We often make the mistake of thinking that we can keep our emotions and our thoughts to ourselves. The truth is that there is no such thing as a thought or feeling deprived. Just because we can not share them verbally does not mean they are hidden or not likely to be transmitted to another person.

Achieving this for the first time may seem scary or intrusive, but it is really one of the most beautiful and beneficial to our existence. Your thoughts and feelings have the ability to not only determine how you experience the world, but also how others experience the world. A seemingly simple "hello" to a stranger can literally set the tone for the day of that person.

With this kind of influence in the lives of each other, not just our responsibility, but in our interest to do our part to spread positive thoughts and feelings. You have the ability to immediately clean your mental space, to free your mind of negativity and choose to think and share positive thoughts. When you create this positive seed in you, any person, thing and situation you encounter will be marked by the chance that you have created.

Imagine the difference it would make in your business only if you have been reading your "game". Everything would change. Your sales presentations slipped off your tongue. Your colleagues and employees feel inspired and motivated to work with you. Your customers feel comfortable and confident trust of their business, their family and their success in your hands. Everything about you just "feel good."

As silly as it sounds, you literally have the opportunity to determine the world around you. Instead of letting one mishap hijack your good mood and taste of each person and situation you come into contact with, overcome your mishap and do with it. Push to the side to make room for something more positive. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the impact it has on each person and situation you encounter.
