Imagine a family sitting around the television, perhaps the only TV in the house. Dad holds the remote, that everyone calls "the clicker. The remote control has only two functions. What kept families glued to the TVs that had only a handful of channels, a clicker old, and often no color? The television classic 1970s, of course. There were so many shows in the family in a variety of genres.

For families enjoyed the comedies, the 1970s had some of the sitcoms of the most memorable. Families in the '70s has learned about families in the 1950s watching Happy Days and its popular spin-off Laverne and Shirley as popular. Families also had several varieties to choose shows for their own pleasure. classic variety like The Donny and Marie Show and The Sonny and Cher Show was music, comedy sketches and popular guest stars each week. The Carol Burnett Show "brought together some of the best comedians 1970s every week and the Muppet Show combined the genius of Jim Henson creations fantastic music and comedy with guest stars sharing the stage with Kermit, Miss Piggy and Animal.

There were many one hour family dramas, too. Eight Is Enough, Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons were a few dramas of classic TV brought families together in front of television each week.
